About

Sebayt is an old Egyptian word, sbꜣyt. It means teachings. It's what wise people wrote down to hand to the next generation: how to live well, how to treat people, how to not be a fool. We love that, so it's the name.

Labs is the other half. We make things.

Why

We're curious about the world, and we're tired of hearing "that's just how it's done." We can build things that cost less and are better for the world. Why should the default be something disposable, or something that costs a fortune and lets you down?

We don't do this for the money. We do it because why not.

What's here so far

• SimpleBrain. A free notes app that doesn't make you set anything up. It's meant to be the free alternative to Roam, Obsidian and Notion. Your notes stay plain files on your computer.
• Notes. Our reading notes, taken with the photoreading method, published straight from SimpleBrain.
